Ooh! Found out this morning that my novella Heart of Stone from Couer de Lion’s anthology X6 scored an honourable mention in Gardner Dozois’s Year’s Best Science Fiction – Twenty-Seventh Annual Collection
Of X6, he had this to say:
‘One of the year’s best anthologies was published by an ultra-small press in Australia, and is going to be very difficult for most readers to find. Nevertheless, X6 (coeur de lion), a collection of six novellas edited by Keith Stevenson, features two of the best stories of the year – an evocative reinvention of the selkie legend by Margo Lanagan and a brutal, hard-hitting examination of a disintegrating future Australia by Paul Haines – as well as good work by Terry Dowling and Cat Sparks.’
Yay team!

Ta! I’m guessing the total panic rewrite I did at the 11th hour was probably worth the effort.
Congratulations!
Thanks! Sorry to hear you missed out this time round
Yeah. Considering my output of late, it’s hardly astonishing, but a bit of a bummer nonetheless.
Congrats!
