Ooh! Just got word that my sf story ‘Palisade’ has been accepted for publication in the first Clockwork Phoenix anthology. The story itself is a tough one — dark and nasty, slipping somewhere between horror and sf in my mind. Had to do several rewrites to get it over the line.

Woot!!! You’re on a roll!
thanks Karen — you’re always the first in with a woot!
That’s fantastic, Cat. I like that story and I’m glad it’s found a worthy home!
thanks Kaaron!
Kwinkidink. I live on the bloody computer these days … *g*
Congrats! But…. British???
You know, you’re quite right. Canada wasn’t in the United Kingdom last time I looked. Now I’m going to have to amend my blog post. I can’t recall why I thought this antho was a Pommy production, but I’ve been under that impression ever since I subbed the story last year. oops.
Nice work, Cat! Between this and the Golden Aurealis, you must be a shoo-in for Best New Talent at the Ditmars this year! π
Can you score best new talent twice? Cos I definitely have more talent now than I did when I got my BNT Ditmar back in 2002
I’m sure they can make an exception. π
how about most improved BNT?
Great work! Well done!!!
Ta!
Bravo! The Sparks juggernaut rolls on!
… crushing all else underfoot…
Cool! I got a nice reject from them.
The editor made me do several rewrites just to get put on the ‘maybe’ list last year
I recall it as one substantial one… π
and the end para… don’t forget the end para rewrite!!! two counts as “several” in my memory!
Okay, I’ll concede that one. *g*
Though to me that was more of a “touch-up.”
(I’ll tell you though, my naivety worked in your favor. If I had had any idea I was going to receive 1,300 submissions (ulp!) I would not have asked anyone for rewrites…)
Congrats!
Ta! Stories as revolting as this one can be difficult to place.
Well, it is revolting, but also … elegant …
elegantly revolting… now there’s a blurb if ever I saw one!
I love Palisade. I’m so thrilled you’ve chosen it out of a pool of so many. I know a couple of quality writers who didn’t make the Clockwork Phoenix cut.
