Red carpet massacre

[Vandermeer, better avert your eyes from this blog post]

Well, its official. I have the pdf tickets in my hot little hands. Yes, we are going to see Duran Duran live in concert at the Ethyl Barrymore theatre on Broadway next month! I had to change our flight to London in order to achieve this and I’m amazed by the fact that not only did my travelling companions Rob and

not mind, they’ve actually decided to accompany me to the gig! I was way prepared to go on my own. Hell, I was prepared to fly to London on my own if it came to that. But it didn’t. We are all going and I am so excited.
The Duranies have a new album launching, Red Carpet Massacre. I loved their last one, Astronaut, so I’m hoping this one rocks, but the boys have a very uneven track record with past albums. Medazzaland is pure excrement, save for one lone song. And don’t get me started on their tribute album, Thank You. Its just plain awful. But Big Thing, Notorious and The Wedding Album are ace. Liberty features two gems amidst a pile of crud.
Yesterday I got my hands on The Duran Duran tribute album which seems to feature covers by a host of thrash bands. I’ve only flipped through the tracks but it sounds AWESOME!!!
No need to comment on this post by telling me I’m a sad freak cos I really con’t give a shit. By my age I reckon its OK to like what you like and everyone else be damned.

  1. Well, I think you’re a sad freak, but Izz is very jealous, so I guess it all evens out. πŸ˜‰ Plus, of course, London=Jealous for me anyway, so you win!

    ABSOLUTELY!! Living life BAbeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Damn right. I couldn’t care less if my tastes are “uncool” – which I daresay they are. Anyway, I barely knew what cool was when I was a teenager, let alone now.

  4. I could cry, I’m so jealous! I watched Sing Blue Silver this morning and am back to being 14 and madly in love (boy, Simon was fantastic looking, wasn’t he?) And it was a great way to recover from a hangover. So thanks so much for lending it to me.

  5. Duran…Duran?

    (Thinks hard)
Oh yeah. They kinda charged out of the closet a while back and wound up being arrested for soliciting a cop in a toilet in California… or was that half of Wham!… or was there a difference anyway?

No! Wait! That’s right — Duran Duran… late nights stoned watching Rage… that film clip with all the boobage in it… Girls On Film – that was it!

Right. I remember now. Mostly, anyway. Hey, if they give you feather pillows and get you up on some sort of contraption to belt hell out of each other while being sprayed with baby oil, make sure we get footage, right?

  6. Good for you! Have a blast seeing Duran Duran in NYC and a blast in London!! This California girl certainly wishes there was room in her budget for a quick jaunt to NYC in November… πŸ™‚

    • Awesome Eric! they toured Australia in 2003 but I was too slow to get tickets. I will indeed have fun.
