Dad’s in the paper again

In this article he describes himself as a ‘stubborn old bugger’. Not gonna get an argument out of me.

"After months in hospital, his drawing finger is still not as flexible, two of his toes may have to be amputated and his left eye is a little misshapen, but Sparks is back to doing what he loves best – sketching what he sees around him.

His small sketchpad is full of hospital scenes and fellow patients.

“It’s a miracle he’s got this far,” said Betty, his wife of 49 years.

Scars on his head and face have also healed and much of Sparks’ sharp intellect has returned.

“I have good reason to be bitter but it is an emotion you can’t possibly live with,” he said of the June 2 attack at his home."

  1. Your dad. So fully rocks. So does your mom. In fact, clearly rockitude runs in your family, from both sides. Explains plenty.

        • I’m quite whiny, actually. I possess a great sense of entitlement when it comes to health. The smallest injury sends me into a great huff of outrage!

    • He’s got a nice balcony to sit on in the new hospital. Lots of sunlight.

  2. Here’s to subborn old buggers! Long my they thrive!

My stubborn old bugger is 80 on Saturday. He wants a printer for his birthday…

  3. I love that line “I have good reason to be bitter but it is an emotion you can’t possibly live with”. I can think of several people who need to learn that lesson.
