dad’s exhibition

Dad’s solo exhibition opening is coming up this Saturday at the Artarmon Galleries. He’s home from hospital and walking well without the aid of a stick following his toe amputations & skin graft. He’s been out and about doing normal Dad-type things. It’s almost as if the past five months were some kind of horrible dream.

  1. That’s fanastic. I’m so sorry I can’t be there, but … work. Again. Please give him my best wishes for a fantastic exhibition.

  2. Congratulations – good to see he’s back exhibiting. Should be a grand time for all.

Weren’t you allowed to cite your ninja credentials on the invite? Lol.

  3. That’s great news.
Glad to hear your Dad is getting better.
But I am disturbed to read that he is not a fan of ninjas.

      • Living in Japan for 4 years may have colored my judgment on that topic.

Actually, I was surprised that ninjas aren’t that popular in Japan (with adults at least). Very much looked upon as a thing for children.

I visited the ninja town a couple of towns to see their ninja festival.

          • Maybe not as widely as you think.
We get a distorted view of Japan over here. Sure anime and manga is popular in Japan, but there is still a large proportion of Japanese that don’t like it and look down on “otaku” (Japanese word for geeks).

          • A couple of my Japanese girlfriends told me they didn’t like geeks and lots of the students I taught echoed similar sentiments.
A couple of female Japanese friends even said they’d rather go out with a guy who was a playboy than a geek.
Japanese men of course are a lot more geeky than Japanese women.
When I asked female students about their movie preferences the most common answer was that they liked romantic movies and disliked horror and science fiction.

crazy stuff!!! But i guess I would say that being that I are one.

          • Me too. ๐Ÿ™‚
It got to the stage where I knew more about anime than most Japanese. And I’m not really an especially big fan of anime.

  4. Awesome news about your dad’s exhibition. Really pleased to hear how well he’s doing, especially since the toes & skin grafts (hadn’t caught up on that news until now).
Hard to believe it’s been 5 months!
Please wish him and your mum well from me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I wish we could come but my Dad, Stepmum, Aunt and Uncle are visitng. I hope it goes really well.
