After Worldcon75 in Helsinki, Rob and I flew to Norway and boarded a Hurtigruten passenger-carrying cargo ship called the Vesteralen to spend a week traveling down the coast. Highly recommended – especially Trollfjorden. Photos here.
Rob and I are back from our ten-day China adventure. We stayed in Shanghai with my cousin Charline and her husband Dave. As well as embracing the sci fi Pudong skyline, the Bund and the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre, we hopped on a bullet train to Beijing where we managed to visit Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and stand on the Great wall at Jinshanling. Amazing! Photos here.
As a counterpoint to the last post, here is a pic of myself with friends Isobel and Kathryn taken in Cairo eleven years ago.and here is me sitting in the Cairo Coptic district. My eyebrows were much bushier and my face thinner in 1997. Also, that may well be my actual natural hair colour.
Well folks, Rob, Alisa and I will be heading for the US tomorrow. Excitement hasn’t kicked in yet, largely becuase I’ve had three articles and a manuscript assessment to write over the past three days and I’m now madly cleaning the house in preparation for the catsitter. But I expect I’ll get into the swing of things at some point en route. Dunno if I’ll be blogging or not but I am taking the laptop. see some of you on the other side… oh, and if you never hear from me again its because I ran off with Simon le Bon.
