Moving on
My parents bought number 7 when I was 2. I have no memories of Water’s Road, the house that came before it, just an old B&W photo of me as a big fat baby sitting in a washtub in what apparently was the back yard. It’s the little things I’m going to miss: the stained glass windows and dark wood archetraving that builders don’t include anymore. The view across the reserve to the city. The multi-level backyard landscape that used to seem so vast.
The new place is much more convenient for an elderly couple. Close to shops and transport, one level instead of two. A little bit of garden for Dad to mess with. Big glass windows to catch the afternoon sun.
I hope they’ll be really happy there.
