I’ve been home sick today with the dreaded lurgi. Haven’t had one quite like it before. It started out like an ordinary cold, then last night mutated into this weird thing where I just could not get warm no matter what I did. I was swaddled in layers of clothing, wrapped in two blankets perched in front of a blazing heater with a hot water bottle pressed against my heart, yet still shivering. In bed, I turned the electric blanket up to 11. Usually I can’t stand it up high for more than a minute. The bone shaking thing subsided this morning leaving me with regular cold symptoms. I spent they day on the couch watching DVDs: three episodes of Civilisations, a couple of Star Trek next gen rounded off with some classic Professionals.
I hate wasting a day like this but I guess sometimes there’s nothing you can do about it

Ouch! I hope you feel better ASAP. I had one night where I couldn’t get warm no matter what…and I was boiling to touch. Not fun.

the weird thing was, I had no fever at all! We get the strangest germs on the south coast.

Sounds like the bad lurgy that’s taken out half the nursing staff. Nothing for it, but to stay warm, keep up the fluids and watch DVDs, I say. Glad to see you’re complying with treatment. Get well soon.
