If he’s anything like my two, he chose it for precisely that reason. To be fair, Tramplemaine picks those items he knows I’m going to be using in a few minutes, which is why I occasionally sleep on the floor when he takes over my side of the bed. (I’m trying to teach him that sleeping on the floor is perfectly acceptable. I don’t know if it’s making an impression, other than my tuchis in the carpeting.) Leiber, on the other hand…well, as I’ve noted before, that cat is so dopy that I should have named him “Niven,” and I think his problem is narcolepsy triggered on those rare days when two brain cells rub together and produce smoke.
