My sister is visiting from the UK. Last time she was here, Dad was unconscious with tubes coming out of him in all directions. Last night we went for a family outing to Nilgiri’s, a particularly tasty Indian restaurant a few suburbs away — Dad’s first outing since coming out of hospital. It struck me as we sat about in the garden taking photographs with the last of the afternoon light, that this was probably the last time we’d all be together in the family home. My parents plan to sell it and move to a retirement villa somewhere nearby.
