Dad
Saw Dad on the weekend and he is well. So well, in fact, that he’s planning to go ahead with the exhibition he had originally booked for the 27th October. The works to be exhibited were selected before he was injured. His friend Danny is organising the framing. Dad’s still very tired. His short term memory isn’t great but otherwise he’s mentally on the ball. He can walk a little way with the aid of a stick. The next phase is rehab. We’re currently arguing with the hospital about it. They want to send him to Hirondelle which is difficult to access by public transport (no one in my family drives). Mum wants him to go to Grenwich so she can catch the bus to see him every day. I intend to spend tomorrow on the phone arguing the case.

This is awesome news. The next bit is going to be slow and tiresome, isn’t it? Still, to have reached that next stage is wonderful. I’m a little jealous and a lot happy for you.

stick to your guns about where your Dad does rehab… family involvement is critical, because time is different in hospitals, and if you dont think that family and friends care, you dont either… plus hospital staff know which families show up regularly and care is better for those folks.. when my Dad was in hospital, I was there every day, and on the two weekends I didnt show, some other family member visited.
Thats great he is going on with his showing too.. goals .. goals .. goals..

Mum visits him every day & wishes to keep doing so. Hopefully we can talk the hospital round.

Great news about rehab. I agree with everyone else – family is vital for rehab, so you guys stick to your guns. He will do so much better with that regular support. And good on him for going on with his exhibition. That will do wonders for him, I’m sure.
