Dad
Dad’s still under. He’s been moved to a private room because the doctors are worried about infection. My sister is flying out from the UK to join us.
This photo was taken 20 years ago by the local paper when Dad, my Uncle Pedro and I had a joint exhibition — their paintings and my photographs. My uncle was there in spirit — literally. I can’t remember which year he died, but Dad still had a stack of his work so we did a three Sparks exhibition. My photos, bar one, were terrible, but he included me anyway. Dad told me once that he regretted having had his first four exhibitions because he wasn’t ready. That’s like all those early story sales of mine I hope nobody ever reads or mentions again.

I know the feeling… kinda have the same feeling about my fiction. Made it into Writers of the Future LOOOOONG before I was ready to be a Serious Writer.
