bah humbug
So, despite the fact that I always make a big noise about not enjoying the Xmas season very much, I always make my own cards and a batch of sweet treats to distribute to workmates & such. Usually I do biscuits, but this year I thought I’d have a crack at making rocky road, seeing as home made rocky road really is one of the most evil things on the planet. Its all part of my cunning plan. Rather than trying to keep my own bodyweight down, why don’t I make everybody else fatter? Particularly the folks I work with who both manage to remain irritatingly thin despite eating crap and getting no exercise ever.
So I just made a slab of the stuff. And you know, I reckon there oughta be a law against it. I’ve never seen so much evil crammed into a slice tray. I’ve gained 4 kilos just looking at it! And now the whole house reeks of melted chocolate.

Deb... you're a mother and a nice person... I won't be responsible for murdering you and your kin with this evil concoction... at least let me test it on the ladies at the gym first!

Is “reeked” the right word here? Surely the air is ambrosial; redolent; sweetly laden with the delicious scent of the fruit of the cacao tree.
Ye gods, just writing that made me gain a kilo, I think.
(And I’m shortly heading over to Zara and Gene’s for a Chanukah feast that consists largely of doughnuts!)

its a more elaborate recipe than yours that I got from a mag. Not that there's anything wrong with yours. I will never make the stuff again because I still feel ill from the chocolate fumes even though i stopped cooking at 8am!

yep. I love rocky road, but I’ve learned to keep my eyes straight ahead. Not much I can do about the smell of melting chocolate though except dive right in.
