sleepless in mangerton
I’m not sleeping very well at the moment, the reason being that Mr White, one of our three cats, has taken to sleeping curled up beside me all night on the bed. I’m worried I’m going to roll over and squish him, so I wake up several times during the night to check that he’s OK. I haven’t the heart to shoo him off to sleep elsewhere. I like him. He’s a sweet little guy. But I’m starting to get that zombified look about me and some nights it takes me ages to get comfortable enough to fall asleep at all.
that bed ain’t big enough for the three of us.

You do know that cats are soft and squishy and they bounce back into shape … and quite frankly, love, if he’s got a problem he will squeak … and dammit, you pay the bills!!!!

Yeah, I *know* all this when I'm awake... But when I'm asleep I'm fretting

Alas.
I’ve been sleeping pretty badly since the cats arrived, and they aren’t even in the bedroom at the time. (They aren’t really allowed in during the day either, after some ‘accidents’.)

Which one is Mr White? Did you rename Nemo?

Blake co-slept with us. I was too tired to do anything else. At 18 months we decided enough was enough and put a mattress on the floor on my side of the bed, so he still felt he was with us, but we had our bed back to ourselves. I’m thinking the application of cat-bed to your side of the floor could be the way to go.

The other thing to remember is: cats are smart and cats are fast. If you were to roll on puss it would only happen once. The cat will get the hell out of there quick smart and never darken your pillow again.

I have two cats. Both have learned that if they venture onto my bed, they get a brief lesson in flight. Besides, with three kids sleeping downstairs, there’s a plethora of beds for them to infest.
Now, another question for the Cat that owns this blog. That photo… how old are you? It’s a really cool shot.

I'm about five, I think. Wasn't I cute? In a funny-looking sort of way...

Ah, my cat likes sleeping on my hips – VERY bad for the back, even on a futon
Or else she sleeps on James’ head – very amusing! I love her, then I hate her, then I love her…..
My childhood kitty, Pharlap used to sleep at my feet. That’s where GOOD kitties sleep! It’s comfortable for everyone that way.
