Some folks will be winging their way over to WFC shortly. I won’t be one of them. I find this situation to be an OUTRAGEOUS TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE. Even if the Aussie dollar hadn’t tanked, I still wouldn’t have had the $$, and even if I did have the $$, I couldn’t have taken the time off work right now cos one of my workmates is off in Queensland getting married, thus underpersonpowering the staff of this joint by 33%.
Why, I’m so going nowhere, physically speaking, at the moment that I’m not even going to Margo’s book launch in Leichhardt tonight! Mind you, thats cos I can’t be arsed driving up to Sydney, not because the the universe is conspiring against me.
Margo’s launch is at Berkelouw Book Store, 70 Norton St Leichhardt, 7pm if you happen to live in Sydney and can be arsed going out tonight. I’m reliably informed that there will be drinking involved.

You aren’t out there, Scott Edelman won’t be out there…damn, I’m glad that I didn’t buy plane tickets, because a convention in Calgary without the two of you would be like a broken pencil. (Very seriously, I was going to attend…if only to kidnap friends and take them to the Royal Tyrrell Museum out in Drumheller. Either that, or show them the butterworts growing atop a mountain at Nordic Provincial Park in Canmore. Do you realize that Nordic Provincial Park has a bike trail called “the Riders of Rohan”…and that I had to explain the joke to my in-laws when we went out there in 2006?)

The damned universe conspired against me, too! Couldn’t afford to deal there and couldn’t afford to go if I didn’t deal, so there you go.
And now, of course, the stuff I gotta do around here has expanded to over fill that time.
Look at it this way, if neither of us is there, no one’s going to have fun anyway, yeah?

Hmph. You’ve no need to be jealous, of course. All we poor WFC attendees will be starved of Cat Sparksness. And if you ever want a burst of con happiness, all you need do is look in a mirror. (And possibly jiggle about a bit, to give everything that real not-a-photograph live-motion feel.)
