So we’re up to season 5 of Spooks, and OMG, I can’t believe those bastards murdered Colin!!! This show is so gripping that last night I abandoned all the work I’m supposed to be doing, planted my fat arse on the couch and watched until those that remained of the main cast list were safe enough for me to sleep. Note: The excellent Hermione Norris from Wire in the Blood has joined the line up.
Ah, British television. More real to me than my actual life…

How funny! We’re watching Spooks all the way through for the first time as well, and began season five last night. Colin’s death was chilling, wasn’t it?

ooh! snap! yeah, it was horrible. Worse than Danny's and Fiona's because they're heroic field operatives & risk is a part of the deal. They better not kill Ruth off. I think I'd probably cry if they did that.
I love the fact that these people are all real to me. That's what quality writing, acting and production values can do.

Actually, I kind of thought there was a weird shift in the show around now, where it went from plausible to a bit … not. But I still love the characters.

I find all the dodgy politics and media manipulation stuff chillingly plausible in light of current world events.

I’ve been shocked by the mortality rate on the show. And somehow they keep me caring about the characters enough to keep watching, although the end of season five may have gone too far for me.

Oh, Cat… just wait til you’ve watched season 6… I gave up on Spooks half way through season 3 – the hubby kept watching – for some reason I decided to give it another go, and proceeded to watch season 3 through 6 in about three weeks.
Season 6… well, yes. Season 5 and 6 as a set are just so wrong, I don’t understand why I kept loving it.
