Leura House retreat

Rob, Terry Dowling and I spent the weekend at Leura House in the Blue Mountains tutoring a group of spec fic writing students. A grand old venue and a fab group of folks. The participants took their crits on the chin and made the most of the experience. Unlike Rob and Terry, I’ve not done much teaching outside of convention panels and writers centre events, but I do have a natural aptitude for mouthing off about things that matter to me and writing is most definitely one of those things. I liked all the participants and hope they decide to connect with the spec fic community at large. Angie and Mac are set to attend the next Clarion South. Look out QLD — Angie’s one hell of a belly dancer!

back row: Nick, Amin, Roger, Kylie, Jeremy, Maclaren, Angie, Kurt.

Feeling pretty knackered now. Think we’re gonna chill infront of some stupid movie about killer apes (waves at Mr Kaufmann)

Cat

it was called Blood Monkey and it sucked. Group of attractive brainless 20-something students gets conned into some impenetrable jungle where mad professor uses them as ape bait. You barely see the apes. They're the missing link, highly intelligent but with a lust for blood, etc etc. yawn. But I was so tired last night I didn't want to waste my attention span on anything good.
