Yesterday was a truly great day in the history of this country. If Rudd doesn’t do anything else of note, he will be remembered for the Apology. But I hold high hopes for the current government. They kickstarted the show by ratifying the Kyoto protocol — now Work Choices is under the knife. There was something in the air yesterday. Not often you hear politicians speaking and it gets you in the gut.
I pinched this photo by Justin McManus from The Age. The Tony Wright article that accompanies it is excellent.
Move on. Move forward.

And they canned the sale of uranium to India after Howard’s govt had given it the okay! Going good so far, at least for the ethical and moral govt we have not had for several years. let’s hope it lasts.
Only disappoint so far is that Garrett didn’t slam the dredging of Port Phillip Bay and he was the only poli I really believed in. Oh well. Idols with feet of clay…

I was struck with the same thought yesterday, that he’s going to have quite an extended honeymoon as a result of the apology. It’s going to have to come with actions though, and we’re yet to see just how far Rudd will go in fulfilling his promises. Still, it’s good to be able to think nicely of a politician for a change.

He spoke so well. I believed that he believed his own words.

Even I am having a hard time clinging to my political cynicism under this new govt.
I particularly liked when Rudd said this was just *a* step, not the whole process, & it was going to be hard…
Remarkable days.

If we’re lucky, we Americans will be joining you. If not, I’m moving there myself, to spend the rest of my life raising Wollemi pines and triggerplants.
