 So, the good folks over at the Last Short Story project put up their 2007 recommended reading list. One of my efforts, ‘Right to Work’ from Russ and Nick’s The Workers’ Paradise anthology scored a listing, and I am pretty chuffed about that. I don’t think its one of my best stories at all, but I am not going to argue with the conclusions of  folks who read almost 3000 stories apiece. I read fewer than fifty shorts last year, so I’m in no way qualified to be offering opinions on which ones might be the best of the year’s crop, but 2007 stories I loved include:

Muse of Fire by Dan Simmons, The New Space Opera anthology (actually, there were only 2 crap stories in this anthology. Most of them were awesome)
Acid and Stoned Reindeer by Rebecca Ore, clarkesworld Magazine
Foam on the Water by cat Rambo, Strange Horizons
