Ooh! Orb 7 has been reviewed by Mark Smith-Briggs over at Horrorscope. My story ‘A Lady of Adestan’ received favourable attention. Smith Briggs writes:
“Sparks shows her ability to draw you into her world in the richly detailed period piece A Lady of Adestan. A story of two sisters who seek to free one of them from the cruel and repressive society of a royal court it is an emotional and liberating tale built around the bonds of family love. Spark’s enables you to get behind the two sisters, and you find yourself cheering them on as they attempt their ambitious plan.”
A few weeks back Alexandra Pierce at As If reviewed the same issue. Of my story she had this to say:
In “A Lady of Adestan”, Cat Sparks has once again created an extreme, dangerous world, masquerading under a pleasant facade. Dena’s sister Nadira has gone to live in Adestan; Dena goes to visit her and discovers what life is really like there. This is not really my style of story – I’m not a big romance fan. Nonetheless, it was interesting to watch its unfolding.
I love this story. Its always such a thrill to get a mention in a review.
