The Bride Price

has written a review of my New Ceres story The Bride Price over at

:

“I enjoyed the second issue (first for this year) of New Ceres.

Cat Sparks delivers The Bride Price, a story about a young man on his way to purchase a bride from a station outside New Ceres, and his encounter with a shipload of refugees on the way home. The depiction of the plight of the refugees is moving and particularly apt to our contemporary society. Ultimately it’s a story of one man’s discovery of how the other half lives, and the conflict it causes inside him. Sparks manages to do it with a light touch, through little details rather than blunt polemics, which ultimately lends the story more power. Highly recommended.”

Ben liked the whole of the mag, not just my story… But authors like Stephen Dedman, Jay Lake and Lucy Sussex have way too much publicity already don’t you think? :-)

PS Happy Birthday Stephen!

Too much publicity?

There’s no such thing as too much publicity if they spell your name right on the indictment.

Ha! A tenth of your publicity would see me right for the rest of my life I reckon...
